Teacher Assistant JOB GOAL:
To assist the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the standards of instruction.
Qualifications:
One year of college required; two years of college preferred.
Basic understanding of child growth and development.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Principal PERFORMANCE
Responsibilities:
Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information.
Other duties as assigned by the teacher or Principal.
JOB ENVIRONMENT:
K-12 School PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Include frequent standing, walking, stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds; and possible exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases, depending on specific assignment.
